Spirit Mountain will close Sunday due to the predicted extremely cold temperatures.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning for Northeastern Minnesota with wind chill values lowering to 40- or 50-below zero early Sunday morning. The warning states that exposed flesh could freeze in a matter of minutes.

In the interest of guest and employee safety, all of Spirit Mountain’s operations will be closed all day Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to warm slightly after Sunday, so Spirit Mountain will resume operations with limited hours from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The DSAC Holiday Camp will also be cancelled for Sunday, and will extend the camp for an extra day on December 31 to make up for the lost day.

Check the online Snow Report at spiritmt.com for the latest updates each morning.
